SOCO girls weekend

two weeks ago, i had the honor of spending some amazing quality time with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, as well as other girls in the family at aunt patty's home in anderson, south carolina. we flew in from all over the place [foco, fayetteville, little rock] for a wonderful girls weekend skiing, touring historical homes, relaxing, and enjoying one another's company!

it was a sweet time for all of us, as hallie and i haven't really been given the opportunity to have a full out girl's weekend together, until now. it really gave us the chance to grow closer, without the distraction of our men :) though we did miss them a lot!

aunt patty was the most amazing hostess with the mostess.. her and uncle johnny out did themselves in southern hospitality! not to mention the gourmet cooking...deeee-lish!

it was a weekend full of fun and quality time that was so needed and cherished. i miss the girls already, and i'm already looking forward to the holidays when we'll get some sweet time together again.

old blog. new post. new home: part 2

this will conclude our new home tour. below are pictures of our bathroom, the guest bedroom, and guest bathroom. i'm still trying to get used to the orange in the guest bathroom... it is the color that was already in the home when we moved in. and after going through 3 coats of gray paint and 6 hours just for that little space to cover up that bold color in our bathroom, i haven't been able to build motivation to paint again.

we are really loving life out here in colorado. both b and i are huge fans of the fall weather; we just have never really had the opportunity to enjoy it living in the south. this whole "seasons" thing is throwing us for a wonderful loop! the weather is progressively getting cooler and the leaves are changing all around us!

old blog. new post. new home: part 1

you may not be wondering where i've been, but i sure have been wondering...where did literally months go? i told myself i'd have a lot of time, now that i'm jobless, to post on the blog, but to be honest, i haven't even thought about blogging. but i did yesterday. and i've missed it. so i promised myself i'd get back into it, and here i am.

i feel like i should start a new blog... new state, new marriage, new season of life... but i'm not... so here it goes: a new post on an old blog.

we are loving, absolutely loving Fort Collins. and honestly, aside from our old church and friends, our new town makes missing the south, difficult. blake is settling into his job at elic with much ease.. i'm a proud proud wife. i'm really learning what it means to be a godly submissive and supportive wife. we're learning to cling to each other even more than we ever realized, now being in a new place surrounded by new people. we realize the blessings we have not just the new ones that we are gaining daily (i.e. church, community) but also the blessings we have in each other. b and i continue to grow deeper as best friends. we both, love love love this about our lives here in foco.

i'm going to cut this post short and share some pictures of our new home- but not all of it...i took a lot of pictures! it's the reason i've been mia. i could honestly go on forever in this post. there's been so much that's gone on just in the month and a half we've been here, but i promise to be more consistent in posts now that we're settled, and share moments with you that have been wonderful for us  since our move out west. please come visit, we're ready to host guests. :) and we sure do love company.

one of my favorite ideas blake had to do with our photographer at our wedding. it makes me smile always. dear friends.

transforming the so-so

with all this moving and changing and cleaning out, i put my creative cap on and decided to enjoy these last few weeks in our home, and turn our house into a work studio! one of the things that i love about moving, is that it gives you the opportunity to re{design} starting from a clean slate. our house in CO = clean slate. And some of the pieces of furniture we have, I love and am keeping, but feel they needed just a bit of an updated look.. i'll post some before and after pics of the chair, but i couldn't wait to show it's final outcome. can't wait to find a good spot for this beauty.. i'm pretty pleased with the results.

one of my other favorite pieces that i transformed was the beautiful dresser that i happened to have in the guest bedroom of our home. i knew it wasn't going to be coming with us to CO, so I decided to give it a new look and sell it to someone that will enjoy it! turns out, i sold my first piece this afternoon.

this weekend, i took a break from sanding in the heat and blake and i got to attend a going away party held in our honor {and the pacillo's honor} over at sean and laura g's house. it was a perfect way to say goodbye and close the door on our "nearly newly-wed's" small group. we will love and miss them all dearly.

all the men from L-R: Trent, John,  Blake, Nick, and Sean

girls L-R: Candice, Lauren, Elizabeth, Me, Cori, Laura

b and i feel some incredibly blessed that cori and john aren't just going away too, they're also moving to Colorado, just a mere 15 minutes down the road. we're looking forward to having some familiar faces to spend time with and grow together as southern folk in a foreign {hippie} land.

and lastly, there was another little going away lunch held in my honor :) or at least i like to think so, with all of my high school girls. jillian and i have been leading a small group of some of the most amazing girls for awhile now. i remember when they were just freshman, and starting next month, will already be juniors! yesh! we've come a long way together. i love them all dearly...leaving such sweet people makes me have to press into the Lord even harder and remember He always has our best interests at heart! He always has what's best for me, no matter where that may be.. We're going to Colorado, because it's where we're being called. I have to remember that there is another season awaiting us in CO.

i will miss them though..

AND HERE'S TO THE START OF NEW TRANSFORMATIONS, NEW LIFE, NEW CLIMATE, NEW CULTURE, AND NEW SEASONS!

07.14.11 {loves}

so, we finally found out yesterday that we can paint the inside of our house in CO, and i might shamefully admit to dancing around my house about it once we found out! it didn't take long for me to start researching color schemes and color palettes i want to test in our home!

what i'm loving today:

{i want to find a creative way to encorporate this phrase in our home... it's so true}
